TF Management Team
Steven T. Huff - Chairman and Director of Engineering
Mr. Huff was founder and CEO of Sensor Systems (later Overwatch) a company that creates leading commercial software products for medical, defense and intelligence applications. Overwatch was sold to Textron in 2006 at which time Mr. Huff left active management to pursue other interests, especially in green technologies. He identified energy conserving, disaster-resistant building technology as a critically needed component in a future of increasing energy prices. With that as a driving force, he searched for practical technologies that could significantly improve the performance of both residential and commercial scale structures. Mr. Huff constructed two buildings using Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF), one using TF System’s original ThermoForm vertical ICF, and another using a block ICF. After careful analysis of thermal properties, labor productivity, flexibility of reinforcement, and the accuracy of the finished product, he concluded that a substantial modification of the vertical system had the potential to build radically more efficient structures. Subsequently Mr. Huff made an equity investment in TF System, which holds the patents on vertical ICF, and collaborated with Gerald Spude to design and patent TransForm - enabling a new generation of practical super-insulated concrete structures.
Mr. Huff is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College with a BS in physics and the California Institute of Technology with a MS in physics. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and manages the Huff Family Foundation.
Kirk D. Brown - Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Brown was President and Chief Operating Officer of Sensor Systems (later Overwatch) a company that creates leading commercial software products for medical, defense and intelligence applications. Overwatch was sold to Textron in 2006 at which time Mr. Brown remained as General Manager of Overwatch Geospatial, an operating company of Textron Corporation, leaving in 2009. During his time with Sensor Systems and Overwatch he led the Company through significant growth achieving a position of significant market leadership in the field of Geospatial Intelligence. During his tenure Mr. Brown led three successful acquisitions and the sale of the company to Textron in 2006. Prior to Sensor Systems he was the President and CEO of two previous technology companies, leading each through successful periods of substantial growth and eventual sales to Fortune 500 Companies. Mr. Brown began his career in Public Accounting and is a former CPA and partner of Arthur Young & Company (currently Ernst & Young). He is a graduate of the University of Texas with a BBA Accounting degree.
Mr. Brown joined Mr. Huff in TF System making an equity investment in 2009 and joining the Company as CEO.
Gerald Spude - President and Co-founder
Mr. Spude is a third generation concrete mason, working in the trade since he was a boy. His substantial experience with concrete forming systems and first generation Insulated Concrete Form “ICF” products gave him first-hand practical knowledge of their limitations. This knowledge enabled him to conceive of a better way, the vertical way, and Mr. Spude invented and patented the vertical ICF design. Mr. Spude was a partner in Vision Homes LLC, a start-up company in Ireland. Vision Homes used TF System ICF and produced assembly line prefabricated wall sections. He acted as chief technical advisor for the company, managing the set up of its manufacturing plant.
Mr. Spude has over 17 years experience designing, testing, and building with ICF. Before starting TF System he owned and operated Spude Concrete and Masonry for 12 years. His concrete and masonry business built both residential and commercial structures. Mr. Spude has also patented, manufactured, distributed, and sold other building products.
Over the past two years Mr. Spude has concentrated his efforts on TransForm, a new forming system that represents a quantum leap in building with insulated concrete. As co-inventor, Mr. Spude has successfully translated engineering concepts into a practical working system with significant scalability across a broad spectrum of commercial applications.
Don Rudolph - Vice President and Co-founder
Mr. Rudolph has extensive experience in the concrete forming arena, starting with his own construction company, DR Construction, that used removable forms and graduated to Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF). In 1994 he co-founded TF System, Inc. with Gerald Spude. Mr. Rudolph handled all day to day operations for TF System since its inception. He has served several terms, and is currently a board member of the Insulating Concrete Form Association. He has extensive training experience and worked closely with the Union Carpenters to train their “trainers” to work with ICF’s.
Mr. Rudolph previously served as a member of the board of the Wisconsin Rural Development Center from 1983-1992 and was board chairman from1986-1990. Mr. Rudolph owns Pine Valley Farm, a fourth generation Wisconsin Century Farm in operation since 1899.
